Hello, I am Sophie
I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the long-range plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, fresh routines, elevated expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning through hands-on experience. Yet, gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Grove Field Mirror
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was absent was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — actionable advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Sophie
